MAKING CONVERSATION
by Jack Migdalek & Esther Erlich is designed to help students acquire a sense of English conversation, and to develop confidence in their own ability to make and consequently voice engaging, dynamic, communicative conversation of their own.The activities of MAKING CONVERSATION are based on stimulating often hilarious illustrations by Australian artist Esther Erlich. Students are inspired and empowered to embellish, alter and manipulate the provocative situations before them, both verbally and pictorially.
As students progress through the book, they are given increasing creative control over the situations and dialogue of each exercise.
MAKING CONVERSATION works as a mixed ability text; students handle activities via the language that they already know and is suitable for classes of all sizes and exercises can be worked individually, in pairs or in small groups.

ENGLISH-LIVE!

by Christine Lee Chinen is a multi-level (pre-intermediate to advanced), multi-skills book, which uses interviewing as the means to get students communicating in English. The book is divided into five stages, each of which concludes with an interview. The first three interviews are done in class, and the last two are done outside of class. Ideally, students use English when conducting interviews and when reporting on the interviews, both orally and in writing.
The course gives students the oppotunity to use the English they learn in the classroom, outside of class in real and unpredictable stuation.

Natural Speaking

by Paul Thompson & Christopher Chase

The new full-color Natural Speaking (3rd edition) is designed for students who are beyond the false beginner stage. This new 12 unit edition has many more dialogue ideas and a rich plethora of pair work and group activities covering a wide range of topics. There are also many listening activities and information gap activities. The material is suitable for most students in the mid-teens to young adult range.

The material in Natural Speaking is highly flexible, so that teachers can easily adjust the degree of complexity to match the level of their students. Most activities require some language input from the students, which means that the language content of the activity will reflect their level. Basic structures and expressions are provided to give assistance, but students are encouraged to go beyond the printed page. When students need to know more, they are expected to obtain information from their teacher or other students. Learning, therefore can develop at a natural pace, and in a more natural speaking environment.

WRITE about it,

TALK about it

by Richard Gabbrielli & Joel Harris is an intermediate-level cooperative-learning writing text designed to maximize student-to-student communication through the extensive use of writing groups, reading groups and talking groups. Students are encouraged to relax and enjoy the learning process, while developing essential social skills and the confidence to share personal information and ideas with classmates.

WRITE about it, TALK about it is easy to use and flexible. It presents an alternative approach to teaching writing skills, focusing on the free and natural expression of ideas without necessarily adhering to explicit writing models. The ten sections are filled with fun, thought-provoking topics that will help students become better writers and speakers.
